Gee’s an illustrator based out of Sydney doing some fantastic illustrations, be it for comic books, concept art or magazine illustrations. Whenever I pop onto Facebook he seems to have some put up new drawings of your favorite childhood superheroes lunging into action and with such dynamism and storytelling behind it -it’s why he’s in Issue 2 of 6YL. We’ve got some of his recent work he’s doing for Sydney’s Supanova…
… and also some of his lesser shown work, but this painterly style is equally as inspiring.
Name: Gee Hale
Website: www.geehale.com or www.watermarkltd.com
What are you working on at the moment?
Issue 2 of my creator owned comic, GRIT and well as a couple of children’s books illustrations.
What’s your most recent source of inspiration?
Comics and hot green tea!
So, picture yourself now. You’re sitting at your work studio trying to do this interview. Right, OK. Picture yourself six years ago. What advice would you give yourself?
Follow my gut instinct, take art more seriously and save up, stop working at dead end jobs just for the sake of paying my rent.
Where do you see yourself in six years?
Still here at the studio, enjoying my job…hopefully with a better computer and a better apartment!
What are your go-to tunes to get the creative juices flowing?
It varies, from dub step, to random Korean songs to Boyz 2 Men. I normally sing along as I work at home, not at the studio though. It’d be weird…
